When is a rooster too aggressive?

Roosters have ruined the whole chicken experience for a lot of people, especially a lot of kids. He would go, their brains are the size of a walnut half, stalking is NOT a sign of respect, it is a sign of sizing up.

If he attacked a child would he go? Well, why wait until a child is attacked? I would not keep him.

Anyways he is a good rooster, the kids are just afraid. I breed full blue australorps which is why we need him around.
Maybe you can rehabilitate this rooster.. maybe not.
Some people hold to the idea that aggressive roosters should not be used in breeding programs as it just furthers the trait.
I would keep him penned with his girls and keep my children safe. The kids should be able to go outside in the yard without fear.
We Had a pretty good rooster (beautiful boy and protective watcher of his hens) when my daughter was almost 2 that one day he decided she was just about the right size for taking. He hit her in the back of the head, knocking her forward. We had raised this rooster from a chick. He was 5 or 6 years old. Our daughter was walking accrost the yard between her father and I. No previous aggression had ever been shown. Thank God i kept his spurs trimmed. THAT rooster only continued to breathe for as long as it took my husband to go to the house and fetch his pistol.
Some kids carry a trauma of a chicken attack into adulthood.
I wish you luck with your ro.

I got a rooster who was very aggressive when he first came, he was 1 year old, so I decided to try to "tame" him a little, what I did was to let him see me more and get used to me and let him know that I'm boss and the kids as well, we held him in our arms for him to get used to us for about 2 months and now he's really gentle with us unless someone decides to bother him.
