When Is It Safe To Return Recovering Bird To Coop?

On Wednesday we brought one of my RIR into the house because she was very lethargic. I believe she had a vitamin absorption problem. She's just started laying just about every day. I gave her some vitamin E with selenium and electrolyte water. By the afternoon she was eating and walking around again. Yesterday she didn't want anyone to pick her up (this is usual for her), eating well, laid an egg, and tried to fly out of her box. I'm just wondering when it'll be safe to put her back with the flock?

And yes, she sounds like she is in perfect condition to go back with her feathered friends! Im sure she is lonely!

what about if it is really cold outside and the bird is inside a warm house for awhile, do you have to worry about the shock of cold outside? Is that a worry in CO?

This will sound extreme to some, but I isolate for thirty days.

If, and I said IF, a pathogen is responsible for what happened to your bird, there won't be a response to that pathogen in your other birds for seven to fourteen days or more. And that's the time frame you will be treating your sick bird usually. Then after successful treatment, it has to show it is indeed free of disease.

I don't bring sick birds into the house. They go in the garage == a place that's easily cleaned and sanitized, a place it's easy to treat the birds, a place other birds can't get in.

Thank you all for your advice and insight. We had to bring her into the basement because we don't have a garage. Our only outdoor buildings are our coop and llama shelter.
