Is there a certain time of day you should not give treats to your flock?

Someone told me not to late in the day. Also can you give them to many treats?

I don't know why not too late in the day. Maybe because they're already full and not interested, or to avoid overfilling the crop. It is common to give treats around dark to lure them into the coop for the night, though. Also given for a little extra carbs/energy before a cold night.

Yes, you can give way too many treats. Their feed provides balanced nutrition. I've seen recommendations that treats should not exceed 5% to 10% of their intake.

I feed a little treat in the morning when I let my chooks out and a little something sometime in the afternoon. In the winter, I try to give them a little something like warm mash before they go to roost.
If I notice a severe drop off in the amount of layer feed they are consuming I cut out the treats for awhile.

I give a little in the morning, just to encourage the hens to look forward to me coming to see them (bribery!) and to ensure they take whatever I want them to eat that day - ie medication, probiotics etc but mainly save the treats until last thing in the evening, so they have had all day to fill up on their proper balanced layer's feed. Agree about the mixed corn giving them a bit of 'heat' before they go to bed too.
