When people try to scam you....

No, your not responsible for work that you did not okay. They also couldn't have legally kept your mower. How rude to put the note on the ticket, when it was their fault.

We had a scammer here, but he didn't last long. He would take one customers mower, 4 wheeler, etc. use the parts off of them to fix someone else's, so everyone was waiting a while to get their items back. I guess you were out of luck if no one else brought in another mower or 4 wheeler so your's could be fixed.

Some people just make me want to

I am just mad about the comment putting us down as deadbeat customers.

Look who is over charging, keeping equipment extended periods of time and then telling us we're not welcome there.

I'm running out of companies to use in the area. Sadly, another place near us did this same this to my neighbor and we absolutely won't use them either. What is this world coming to? My husband quotes people side work ALL the time, and if there is a problem that is WAY expensive he stops work and talks with the client. If its only like $20 difference he usually just eats it so they are happy. He knows how important customer service is.

So sad.

there are laws against that in FL "all" written estimates cannot be overrun by more then 10% w/o written approval, verbal approval is required in 10% or less...

I'd have to go look it up so have a grain of salt or two.

You know, I hate saying it... but I am mad at Dh right now too. He doesn't even realize I'm mad! I'm always selling things on craigslist, we have food stamps and I am taking $20 here and $20 there and stashing it under my bed in case of emergency... and he thinks this was even negotiatable?! What money was he negotiating with? Just because he has a job to do tomorrow... doesn't help! He just spent more then he will make tomorrow.

And I will be left to figure out this month's bills from that.

The Better Business Bureau is the agency where customers report negative/fraudulent/bad work.... done by a company that was hired to do work for them.

i.e. You hired someone to fix your roof and they did a shoddy roof job and now you have leaks where it never leaked before in 4 rooms. Like I had.

So you report them and they go on a list and then when someone is looking for a roofer and they call the BBB they ask if Roofer Joe has any reports and they say, they sure do. So that customer does not hire Roofer Joe and go through the turmoil of a shoddy roof job, no money to fix it, and water damaged interior rooms....

You'll be doing people a service if you report this garage. And others may have already reported them and if they continue doing business that way... more people will continue to report them I would think and they could hit a serious low in customers if they don't buck up.

I checked the BBB and they don't have the business listed. So I should fill out the info to add them and report them then? Or do they already have to be registered with the BBB. Even my husband (who's a push over) is mad about the comment on the receipt.

You need to sit him down and show him to his face the bills vs the income. It takes me doing that monthly for Ken to get it half the time. I stress about finances all the time and he spends money. Not fair!!! I need shoes and underwear really badly and he buy Red Bull.

Men have optimism, women have reality. Brains work differently. I stay awake and worry, he sleeps.
And in the end, he has no more control over what is happening to our way of life than I do, but he is better rested.

wow... I sooo can empathize with you.

First of all know that what this company did was against the law. You hired them for tires and did not give them the approval of any other work. It's their loss. You should NOT feel bad one bit.

You and your hubby are doing what you have to do to get by and it is what it is and don't feel bad about that either. When you are able you will be in a better position to get on with life. Don't feel bad about your situation. It only will make you a more understanding person to others in similar plights and you will not take things for granted when you have or when you have not.

I'm right there with ya babe.

big hugs,
gretch
