Went Christmas shopping too long and was back home around 9pm.My ducks and geese hadn't been locked in night pen, I though , they will have gone into pen and it's cold, probably be fine. BUT, it's always the night you forget or get lazy something happens especially in the fall/winter. So I went out without my flashlight on, so they wouldn't raise a racket and wanted them to stay in pen area , not come greet me and have me trip on them , while blinding them with flashlight. I go thru the 4 ft. gate in a day pasture, walk over to the 2nd gate into 4 ft, hotwired day yard, which surrounds the night pens. The ducks are quacking and over by the geese (who aren't really their favorite people.) I step into the aviary (a fenced carport , subdivided into pens). A neighbors cat is in there...I tell it to get out and try to shew it out. It launches up into the air trying to scale the 2x2 wire, it then leaps towards me and manages to claw my hand....Sheesh!!! I do let out the" D....Cat!". It was most likely after mice in the area...but my mini-overbergs were in the center pen, boy was I glad I had bird netting all the way around their pen. It could have harmed them. They are only like a lb. or so. Needless to say, I don't like that cat, seen that sucker leap to the roof of their trailer, with a dog chasing it.....dont' t hink he wanted my ducks , think he just got in the wrong set of fences.....I do have 2 scars to prove my tail....husband and son asked if I shot it...... no , but I cursed it.......
