My cock is five month old and he doesn’t crow, he only stretches his neck in a strange position and then shakes his head and wings and stops. Is that normal?

I have not seen this myself but some people say they have seen a two-week-old cockerel try to crow. It's just a squeak, nothing like you'd expect. I've heard some of mine try around 8 weeks, sounded pretty funny. I've also had some not try until they are older than yours. Some of that is individual personality and self-confidence. Some might be due to his position in the flock hierarchy.

From what you describe yours is probably getting ready to start. Don't be surprised if he has to work on getting the sound right.

Thanks a lot. So he’s completely fine. 😁
