Hello, so I am hatching some call duck eggs, they are a little bit more on the show quality end but not extremely. I haven't been checking for internal pipping too much, only like twice and I want to make a safety hole but im not sure how to know if it has internally pipped without opening up the incubator during lockdown, I know I will probably have to assist but should I open up the incubator to check for the internal pip or just let it be? I am a little worried about it suffocating but I also don't want to put a safety hole too soon. (day 27) Also it isn't a still air incubator, and I cant really hear TOO well due to the fan.

If you put a safety hole in the egg before it internally pips you will kill the duckling.

Hello. Could you please explain why it would kill the duckling? I am very new to hatching ducks, and am curious to know how the safety hole above the air sac could kill it.
