When should I start using layer feed?

My girls are about four months old and are still on chick starter& grower when can I start giving them layer? Or if there is anything better out there that would be helpful also.

You start giving layer when they start laying, before that could make them ill because of the high calcium. You usually switch to grower feed in between starter and layer unless you have the starter/grower combination feed, then they stay on that until lay.
