When Should She Be Laying?

My americana or ee as im told came home 3/9 and laid this seek for the first time. She is still now very red. Has yours shown any behavior like looking to lay yet? When you get her

im not aware of any behavior she would show if im being honest. I’ve noticed she’s been a little more aggressive with the others. I got her when she was a baby… size of my palm

She has a pea comb, which is more difficult to see than a single comb.

My pea comb girl was also my last layer. It is still just starting to get pink and she has laid 2 eggs.

I have noticed mine seem more interested in the coop before they lay. Going in and out spending more time in than usual. One of mine even runs around as if she's looking for a place to set down a hot potato or something

I don’t think it will get any larger, no.

She will lay when she is ready. Some take longer than others, but it is better for their health to not start too early.
