i've had plenty of my own duh moments that he's had a good laugh with me about. sometimes it just takes another pair of eyes or ears to know what is going on and tell you a simpler solution or spot the problem.

dh was just SOOO ready to panic over the snow blower not working. (it is over 10 years old and came to us in fair condition from a friend. my dad helped to get it running right but it still has its issues-never had a problem with starting it though.)

One of my favorite DUH moments was several winters ago when I was running a boarding stable.

We didn't have auto waterers and asked that in the winter, if people watered the horses, that the hoses be drained. I was almost (keyword here) the last one out one night and I drained the hose. Next morning, the hose is solid ice. DH and barn help fuss long & loud at me. That night, I was supervised while draining the hose. Everyone agreed that I'd done it properly. Next morning, solid ice. Arrrggghhhh!

So I start checking with boarders to find the night owl. Found the night owl. She was absolutely astounded that the hoses kept freezing. Told me she'd been coming out late to make sure that everyone had water at night and really didn't understand that water in a rubber hose in an unheated barn would freeze.
She has a masters degree in physics.

In her defense, I'll add that she had never lived in a climate where temps regularly dropped below 25* and we never had a frozen hose problem traceable to her again.

seriously though...my husband and i both have had some good ones..i remember with our first child, we were looking at playpens and one had a mosquito net over it..he looked at me and asked " how is that going to keep the baby in?"

once, i was talking about how cheap my sister in law was, without noticing that shes sitting in the SAME ROOM.

haha I have one for myself..

I keep my dogs water bucket by the laundry room entrance. I have a small bowl right next to it for the puppy.

I had just pulled a load out and was going back to put the clothes in the washer into the dryer. I happend to glance down to make sure I wasnt going to step in the little bowl when I saw a MOUSE drinking out of it. I did that kind of inner gasp where you feel that huge tingle in your chest area. Everything kind of got going in a fast forward motion as I got into a panic that a mouse was right there at my feet! I started tripping all over myself and into the laundry room where I started river dancing..

Come to find out it was one of my back ankle socks that had fallen out of the basket and was hanging half in and half out the water bowl
