when to assist.. *sigh*

Lol everyone has their own style of this dont they? I can see how each methodology, if you will, makes sense.. I'll just wait little while later and see what feels right.. And probably ask a lot more questions, haha. Everyone here is so great, i talk about this site in real life daily! Its so nice to have access to because i really dont think i could do incubation, or even raising these little furr-balls, without everyone's help. Its nice to feel not so terribly in over my head since i have backup! :)

I'm not saying at all that my way is right and everybody else is wrong. Everyone finds what works for them. AmyLynn and I are polar opposites on how we incubate and hatch, but we have both found what works for us, and both have respect for the different styles. If you want to assist, assist, I was just saying that I don't, and why I don't, in case that's not something you are prepared to see

and thats exactly what i needed- so now i can know all the ways people do this and i can eventually find my own technique to share..
still no progress on the last 3.. but the other 5 are fluffing up, playing with each other, pecking their bedding, grooming themselves, and even drinking water. they are the most adorable thing ive ever known!

Still absolutely nothing from the last 3 eggs.. today is day 22.. but im still gonna keep them in there and see.. but im not expecting anything.. 4 of the chicks are doing WONDERFULLY, eating, drinking, pooing, and chasing each other around. The 5th chick (2nd born) isnt doing as well. I separated it just in case.. its standing/sleeping a LOT and only opens its eyes halfway. Gave it some honey water and worked with it, seems the little guy never drank with the others so it drank a LOT once it got the hang of it.. starting to peck a little at the food.. but just seems overall weak. I also saw its vent had pasted up so i got that taken care of too. Just thinking it needs a little more help than the others.

The possible splash all the way to the right is the one i had to quarantine. It also just started doing this thing with its head, kind of like its trying to throw up.. but the beak never opens?

It is like walking a fine line. I will assist if I think there are issues. I lost 2 this week that I could have saved. I noticed 2 were already dead so I candled the rest. 5 were moving so I chose to wait until the following morning to assist which would be day 22. That morning out of the 5 that were moving the night before, 2 had died, so I decided to assist. I am glad I did, it took them almost 30 hours to finish up and break out of the shell but I have 3 chicks that are doing great due to my efforts. They never would have hatched. They were full of amber goo and could not move to make the pips. I am almost positive this is why the other 2 died. They were full of goo too and I think they could not reach the air cell and suffocated. I would do it all over again, but it is a slow tedious process and you have to be patient with them and let them do as much as possible on their on.
