Our chicks are about a month old now and they are trying to fly. When should we clip there wings and how is it done? Photo's or a video would be a big help:)

Thanks!!

Why do you want to clip their wings? Unless you have smaller, flighty birds, chickens generally can't fly very well anyways.

Lots of reasons but just to name one big one.

• I don't want them ever flying into my neighbors yard where there is mean dogs that will kill my girls.

It's generally not necessary to clip chicken wings. There are some breeds that don't fly well and this may be an option.

I have 5 hens... Currently ranging in age from 2 yrs to 13 weeks and none of them have ever flown over my 6ft fence...but anytime after 6 to 8 weeks would be fine...only clip on side...there is a diagram in the learning center to gelp

Thanks for the info:) I think I will try out no clipping but if I see them getting close to jumping the fence clipping the wings is better then them getting killed;)
