When to clip wings

I was wondering when is the ideal time to clip a goose's flight feathers for the first time? My Canada geese are about 8 weeks old, and from what I have read, they can fly at about 10 weeks. So, it would seem that I have more time. Is this correct? I am going out of town for a week, and don't want to come home to any surprises. Thanks!
