When to expect MPC chicks? *Pic. heavy (p.4)*

I've ordered from MPC - they were great. Got 6 - all arrived on schedule and alive and well (my packing box looked exactly like the ones in the photos earlier) - It did take two days - I'm impatient and was worried about the little gals but the PO called early on the second day - unfortunately the little things had to wait for me to get out of work to pick them up.

They do ship from Ohio. I live in CT and had asked about picking them up instead of shipping to save on the stress factor.

My son wants to order a few more silkies (to keep his one "poofie" company since she's so much smaller than the rest of our standard birds ) next spring and that is where I'll get them if I don't see any chicks/pullets close enough to me here on the boards. I can have 20 in my town so can handle a few more.

Anyway, I ordered all pullets and that is what I got. I like that they ship small orders - most people can't handle the minimum orders of 25!

Congrats Cargo!

They are such cuties! My 5 are due next week. I sure hope everything turns out as well as it has for you....

Wish I'd have gotten a peanut.
I ordered 8 chicks and there were only 7 in the box when they came. Shipped Monday (7/27) and picked up at 8 am Wednesday. One of them (salmon faverolle) was sickly and died on Friday. They refunded my money for the missing chick but not for the sick chick as they only refund for DOA's. I was supposed to get 2SF, 2 EE, 1 red star, 1 barred rock, 1 buff orp, and 1 black australorp. We have 1 SF, 2 EE, 1 RS, 1 BA and 1 unknown. MPC thinks it is a white rock instead of a barred rock.
Needless to say I have been pretty bummed because I was so excited to get my first chicks and then all this happened.
I'm glad to see that so many people had good things to say about MPC. I didn't have as much luck as the rest of you but would like to order from them again because of the convenience of sexed chicks and small orders.
Your chickies are soooo cute. Mine are almost 7 weeks old now and I like to put the shipping box beside them and laugh because one of them wouldn't even fit in it now.
Good Luck!

Edited to add: My first order was supposed to Ship on July13 and on July 14 at 8PM I got an email that said my shipment would be delayed until August 17. I had to order different chicks to be able to get them to ship sooner, so I did because I was so upset that they were delayed.

I ordered 6 Australorps, 2 White Plymouth Rocks, 2 Golden and 2 Silver laced Wyandottes from MPC. They shipped on Tuesday 9/8 and I received a call from the Post Office at 7:30 am on Thursday that they had arrived. One of the Wyandottes didn't make the trip to the Post Office

but the rest are happy and healthy! They started eating and drinking as soon as they got into the brooder. All the green gel stuff in their shipping container had been consumed. When I checked on them this morning, they were all asleep. I woke them up so I could change out the paper towels in the bottom of their brooder before I left for work. They zipped around chirping. As soon as I was done, they all went back to sleep. They are cuties!

I ordered 10 BRs from MPC 8 pullets and 2 roos.
They shipped 8/10 and the PO called me 10am on 8/11 they all arrived healthy and happy and are now a very active 4 1/2 week old bunch.

Oh and they got the sexing correct!!

I had ordered babies from Ideal in TX and live in MA.
They shipped them through the PO on Wed 9/09 and I got a 5 AM call on Thursday morning to come get the babies.
All is well with them..eating and drinking and looking soooo very adorable !
My problem is I had ordered 4 different breeds but they all look alike to me ! LOL Will have to wait for those feathers.
What kind of vitamins do you give your babies ? Can you use just an infants in their water ?
Thanks

I give them either Poly Vi Sol in the mouth (without iron) or Poultry vitamins I get from the Co-OP by water.

Anyone getting MPC's shipped tomorrow?

Kargo - How are those cuties doing?

What's in the green grow stuff some of you said was included?

Do I need to put suppliments in the water when I get my order from MPC next week? This is my first time getting chicks in the mail. My first chicks came from a feed store back in Feb 09. They had been given electrolights in their water for one day at the feed store.

When I got them the day after shipping, I didn't suppliment the water because I figured they didn't need it.
