Good evening,
I have 18 and 19 week old Pullets (5 of them) and 1 Jersey giant 19 week old cockerel :).

1 Of my girls laid her first egg today!! Last photo of golden/white one. 2 others are beginning to get bright red waddles and low when u put your hand over them like she did before she laid! The black and white (silver laced Wyandotte) and my Rhode Island Red.
Question I feed them medicated grow and start crumbles but when do I start the layer feed?
I give them scrambled eggs, kale, cucumbers, tomatoes, scratch grains, oyster grit, corn, mealworms and oats and sunflower seeds.
But I want them to have beautiful shell eggs :)

Thanks so much!!

I would switch to a Non-medicated Starter Grower or All-flock feed till at least one of each breed is laying.
Continue to offer Oyster Shells. GC

If I had a Cockerel/Rooster and I fed a Layers feed to my Pullets/Hens, he would get the same.

That said, I haven't fed a Layers feed in 3 years and I've never had a boy.

I like a higher Protein feed 18 to 20%.
So I feed my Hens and Pullets a Non-medicated Starter Grower or a All-Flock feed with Oyster Shells separately. GC
