when to give chickens pellet food

I have been raising chickens for a long time but I go 3 years getting new ones can't remember to give them reg, flock pellets instead of crumbles, not layer though yet, but the crumbles they don't seem to be eating lots of it and it just turns to powder they are 15 weeks old now I do have 3 older chickens I had to intergrate with. so there is oyster shell in a bowl for them.

They can eat pellets now just fine.

When you switch to a new feed, it is best to mix them for a few days to a week so they get used to it. You will also be able to witness them eating the larger pellets so you will be comfortable as well.
