Recently my japanese bantam hatched 5 chicks and im wondering when it is best to let them out to forage around for a little while. I have to keep them in the brooder even though they are with their mother because she is the lowest in the pecking order and couldn't defend her chicks on her own. They are 2 days old now and i would like to put them in the chook run while the others are out but im wondering when would be the best time to do it.

The mom will usually take them out of the nest when they are ready. Normaly when they are a few days old.
