We are coming to the completion of our new 'olde' hen house, we put the wood look linoleum down today and hope to move our lil ladies in REAL soon. What I'm wondering is if there is any one time better than another for the move? I wanted to move them in on a weekend where they could free range all day and then I'd put them to bed that night....Hubby thinks it would be better to keep them in their new coop for a few days at first to acclimate themselves, then let them out to free range. I think he may be concerned about them coming back up to the coop for bed after being out having fun all day?? What is your opinion?

Many Thanks ~ Brenda Lee

Let them acclimate. Once they are used to roosting in their coop, they will usually come back to roost at nite. Gotta side with you hubby on this one

My girls stayed in their coop for weeks before we got their run finished. I hand carried them to a temp run during the day. By the time their run was finished they knew to go in at night and we never had a problem.
