They're one week old. I don't have any other chickens, these are the first. It's in the 80's here every day. I've moved the brooder light as high as it will go and tilted it sideways a little, and they still avoid that end of the brooder. They're hot, but it's coolish in the house (which is where the brooder is) so I don't want them to get cold. I really have no idea what I'm doing. Should I turn the light off? Go ahead and start planning to put them outside? WWYD?

What are your night time temps? You might be able to put the brooder outside but will probably need the lamp still, if only at night time. Are you using a lamp with a very high wattage?

Go to a smaller wattage light bulb. In your house a 60 to 75 watt bulb should keep them warm at night without being too hot thru the day.
