I have 3 chicks in a prefab coop inside of the big girls run. For several weeks I have let them out into the run for a couple hours at a time while I supervised. This week they have been able to mingle with the big girls all day every day. The bigs still peck at them but so far no injuries and the littles know to leave the big girls alone. I'm considering putting the littles on the roost but worry they are still too small and bigs too unkind for them to be in the big coop together in the morning until I open the coop with no grow out pen to run to. How long would you wait before trying it out. Little girls now range from 8-10 weeks OEs. Big girls range in size from barred rocks to Brahmas. 10 big girls, 3 littles, 100sqft coop. (10x10 shed conversion).

If you can get the coop opened up at first light, then I would say try putting the littles with the bigs.
I have 12wk olds with the adults, but even with a large coop, I make sure that pop door gets opened before everyone gets up to avoid anyone being beaten up.

I locked them in there tonight will check on them in a bit as they all immediately flew off the roost. I will try to set an early alarm to open the coop.
