We have some chicks that are 7~ weeks old who are starting to show interest in roosting with the adult chickens, though hen mamma yells at them when they try and they end up back in their small pen together for the night. Should I keep their pen/chick nursery available until they naturally transition to join the roost, or at what age would you have them make the change?

I've had a broody hen take her chicks to the roosts at 2 weeks of age. I've had broody hens wean their chicks at a much older age and never take them to the roosts. You never know what you will get with a broody hen and her chicks roosting.

I personally don't worry about it as long as no one gets hurt. They should work it out.
