Our Khaki Campbell is sitting on eggs!

We have just raised 4 Silkie chicks ( with some help from their Mama Hen!), but never had A broody duck before... So lots of questions!!

She went broody with 1 egg...and has been adding 2 eggs each day. Not sure if she was laying one of them or if they are both stolen eggs from the other 2 ducks.
Last time I saw she had 9 under her....yesterday I didn't see her off the eggs....and I'm certainly not going to risk life and limb to try to move her to see how many she has now!!
Have separated the other ducks now so she can't take any more.

So, my question is....at what stage do I start to count the days ( is it 28 days for K.C?).
From her sitting on 1 egg....or from yesterday?

If the duck was brooding with the 1st egg, you will have ducklings hatching on different days. Count 28 days from where you noticed her brooding full time. From there you can count 28 days for each set of eggs being added to the nest. This is not a good situation as the hen will leave the nest before all the eggs have a chance to hatch. If you have silkies brooding those last laid duck eggs can be moved to the silkies to hatch; or an incubator.

We recently had something similar happen with our KC. We incubated the last three eggs that she left in her nest. Two of those hatched and turned out fine, but of course she didn't take them back.

So excited.....it's day 28 and there's lots of peeping coming from the nest!!!!!
