When to switch to layer feed

Ok, so new question but still about feed. We all know how chicken math works. I planned on 4, got 7, and am now getting 3 more. Theyll be chicks so I'll have them separated for a while but if I buy flock raise can I feed that to my 16 week old chickens as well as the new chicks?what I'm looking at says its 20%. Or should i use chick crumble until they are integrated with the older girls? Also, with 10 chickens should i have 2 feeders and 2 waterers?

I use Purina flock raiser Mostly but I will purchase Any major brand that has the latest manufacture date when I go to the store (tractor supply).


The way I figure, more than half the year:
- you have chicks
- you have hens not laying due to daylight hours
- you have hens not laying due to molt (and this can be months and months of the year if you look at all the times any single hen is molting)
- You have a broody
- You might have a roo

I just see no reason to buy layer feed when any given day one of these factors could be impacting the flock and layer feed would negatively impact at least one bird. This is why I don’t even consider any feed but the most recent mill date Flock Raiser (any brand) with a can of oyster shell always present

Ok, awesome. I like the idea of not buying a bunch of different feed and just feeding them all the same thing.

Flock raiser is fine, as is most 20% starter/grower feed. With 10 chickens one feeder and waterer should be enough (I run my flock of 22 with one of each and while the chickens do take turns as to who gets to eat first, everyone gets what they need).

Ok good. I see my 7 right now all trying to ewt at once and started thinking they might need another one
