When to take out new eggs from under broody hen?

I let my broodies sit on golf balls until i have enough of the eggs i want her to hatch. This way all eggs are started at the same time.
Your video is so sweet!
I have a hen named Everest who is now hatching 8 eggs. They are due to hatch on september 24th.
I would give Coco a third egg, maybe even a 4th. She has the room, and what if one doesant hatch and you have given her ony two.
Good luck and keep us updated!
That’s brilliant!! I didn’t realize the eggs didn’t have to be sat on immediately.

And that’s a good idea! My other hen should lay tomorrow so I’ll slip that one under her too. It’ll be day 4 but I plan on pulling out the divider between the laying boxes and giving her that whole space with her chicks and put the food and water in there as well so maybe she’ll continue to sit since it’s all right there. We are going to put poultry wire in front with a little opening to help section them off too. I don’t want the other girls getting to their food and water nor any unwanted interaction.

Good luck on your hatching!!

Yes, you can save the eggs you wish to hatch for about a week. I put mine in an egg carton and keep it at the base of my basement stairs it a good constant cool temperature there. I tip the carton alternating each day one side to the other. I understand this keeps the yolk from adhering to one side of the shell.
Do NOT wash or refigerate eggs for hatching.
Yes i know people have hatched eggs that were washed or refigerated, but you lower your chances if you do.
Also i have a hutch i use for my broody hens so she can be undisturbed for the 21 days. After they hatch i leave them in it for about 2 weeks before i move them back into the coop.
I have some japanese bantams and i have put 4 or 5 full sized eggs under a broody and these little girls continue to mother their brood well after they are bigger than her. She doesnt seem to notice and neither do they.

Good info, thank you!! I was going to leave these guys in but blocked off with wire in the main coop so I didn't have to mess with re-integration. Coco is my alpha hen but my other 3 girls are still pullets but they are bigger than her so I didn't want to mess that up. My other hen is her friend but still a bit bigger. That's why I figured if I left a small opening for the her and the chicks it would give them somewhere to go the bigger girls couldn't. We will see, I have a bachelor pad that will be available by hatch day if I need to separate them out.
