Hello! We have 8 death layer chicks who are almost 5 weeks old, they are fully feathered, & just seem like they’re getting much too big for the brooder we have. I do feel that death layers mature more quickly than other chickens I’ve had. It is summertime & hot where I live, so heat is not an issue with moving them to the coop. My concern is the other hens in the coop. There are only 4 in there right now. 3 are also Death layers & one is a Black Laced Gold Wyandotte. I feel the chicks are ready to move to the coop, but I don’t want them to be picked on or hurt by the other hens so was wondering what to do about this. Any ideas are appreciated! I just want to make sure it’s a safe transition. Thank you!

I would put the brooder in the coop so they can interact but the hens won’t be able to touch the chicks. Then you can slowly introduce them (while they’re being monitored).
