When to trust young broody

Wow that is short! Was the temperature running high? That can cause early hatches. It is also possible they were incubating a couple days before you put them in. Where did you get them? If from your oen birds, is it possible a hen was sitting on them for a day or two and they are actually older? If shipped, warm temperatures during shipping can cause them to start to incubate, although this time of year that shouldn't be an issue. As long as all seem healthy though, I wouldn't worry about it and congrats on the hatch! And we want PICTURES! Please.

Temp as far as I can tell is accurate. May need to investigate some more before using again. They were layed at home by our own birds. Did sit in the kitchen for a couple of days where it’s warm but certainly not as warm as they would need. Stumped but yes happy healthy looking chicks so I won’t wonder much more. This is the 6. Just chilling in a wee vivarium we use to fully dry off/fluff up. Learn about food and water before moving to bigger slightly cooler pen. (Excuse the pooped towel. It has been changed)

Day 19 hatches are not all that odd....temps were probably running a tad high.
21 days is a general guideline, not an absolute.
