What temperatures do I need to consider a panel heater for my coop? Which product do you recommend?

I am in Northern California on the coast, but inland; we occasionally get snow. Mostly stays in the 40s at night in the winter, but can drop into the 30s. I often have to put a towel on my car window for hard freezes, or wake up early to defrost my window when I leave for work at 4am...

My coops are basically tiny homes, built by my perfectionist contractor husband. Real windows, insulation, electricity...but I have two bantams and several girls going through a hard molt late in the year.

-20F.

You should never need supplemental heat in your climate.

I've had half naked hens out in the teens during hard molts. They would hunker down in the fluffy dry bedding of the coop during the day and hide in nest boxes at night. I would let them stay in there.

I have two bantams and have had temps around -20F with them and they were fine in my very well ventilated coop. No heat.
