when will buff orphingtons start laying

Will they lay secretely if they have a nesting box with fake eggs in it

I'm going to be getting some buff orphingtons in the next few days. I was told I need to keep them in a small cage or box for a while with a light till they start almost jumping out of the tall box. Any one else with more suggestions or help. Any will be appreciated. These will be our first chickens. Thanks.
