When will Carrie begin to sit on her Eggs

Hello,

My baby has laid 4 eggs over the last 6 days.


1. Is she suppossed to be sitting on them?
2. What do I need to do.

I just became a chicken mama on 07/01/07. All my previous chickens turned our to be roo's. Please help

Is she broody? She won't sit on them unless she's gone broody.

She has to be broody or she won't sit on them. It took me 4 years or more to finally get a broody hen. Good luck and hopefully she won't take that long.

and a rooster is an important part of the equation. Maybe that's obvious

A hen might set on eggs even if if they are unfertile.
Some breeds don't go broody no matter what. What breed is Carrie?

i was told she was a Bantum. She has sat before and had several chicks. I also have one of her babies that is now 8 weeks old. i do noy know how to get a picture loaded on here

OK sounds like she will be good to go, when she gets ready! Maybe someone else has some ideas but I've not heard of a way to encourage a hen to go broody. They have to be in the mood.

Someplace around here, maybe on FAQ, it tells how to post pictures.
Or get a teenager to help you. That's what I do!
