When will hens resume laying after a move?

I just bought a tractor coop with 2 hens last Saturday, they are a year old. The previous owner said they both laid at least once a day, sometimes twice in the warmer months. We haven't seen any eggs from them yet since we brought them home.

I've been giving them the pep talk for a few days now, and lots of treats, but still no eggs. We did change their coop a bit, which I think may be adding to the delay. They did not have a roost, instead they were roosting (and pooping) in the nesting boxes and laying in the corner. We added a roost as soon as we got them home, which they love! Yesterday I put a golf ball in each of the nesting boxes, hoping to give them the idea.

They also had never had meal worms before, let me tell you- those ladies talk up a storm to me now when I come out shaking that can of worms!

How long before they start laying again? Anything I can do to help them along?

Chickens, like people, need time to adjust to a new environment.

Give them some time to get used to their new environment. As long as they feel safe and
you done your due diligence to keep them safe, they should get back into swing in a week or so.

I think it depends on the chickens, but when we got Lola, she didn't lay for 3 weeks. From what I understand, that's about average.

I know it takes them an adjustment period to get back in the swing of things. They should be back to nomral soon. I know it's hard to play the waiting game. I also noticed they told you they sometimes lay twice a day in warmer months, however I believe they can't lay more than one egg in a 24hr period. Good luck with them and enjoy.
