When will my adopted hens start laying?

I've had my girls for a week now and have received a few eggs but nothing consistent. Some days I'll have one, some days I'll have only 3... other days I'll get nothing still. I have 6 chickens total and kinda figured once they were comfortable laying, they'd become a little more regular... please explain the process to me? my understanding is they may still be in shock and won't lay if they're nervous or haired out... true?

True. Hens usually do need an adjustment period before they will lay regularly. Some of my experience has shown some hens to take a month or more to settle in and get into a laying schedule. It also depends on their age, younger birds adjust quicker than older ones it seems. Give them some time and they will get on their own regular schedules.
