when will my chickens lay i got them in march

ok i do about once two or three weeks and i have red sex link and rhode island red
today there all staying in the coop i dont no why?
thanks

if there waddles are bright red and there combs are bright red your chickens are going to lay soon. when in March ? first week then there coming into laying , if at the end of march you may be looking at a month or 2. but look at the comb and waddles, this is a good tell tale sign there getting ready to lay. I have four pullets from the same batch, one is getting ready to lay, the others are not even close.

I was noticing from one of my pullets, the waddles are bright red, but the comb - for the first time just a couple days ago was bright red ...and then sometimes it wasn't.

thank you all so much i think one of my red sex links is getting ready to lay

We got 4 one day old chicks on Feb.22, and 2 have started laying. We have 3 tiny green/blue eggs from the Americana (Star) and today the first egg from one of the others. One Speckled Sussex, one Salmon Faverolle and one Silver laced Wynadotte. I will have to watch closely to try and figure out which lady it is. All 3 should lay brown or tan eggs. This one has white spots on it like the apparatus is not quite up and running yet. Five months is a good guess as to when they usually start laying, which means you should expect some eggs near the end of August. Enjoy!

I clean the coop every day. That way it never gets to bad with 6 hens (4 hatched 2/28 and 2 hatched in 2008). Only one of the old ladies is still laying.

By scooping out the poop daily it looks fresh and never gets overwhelming. Since I feed and change the water daily, it is easy to pick up the droppings too. When the straw or pine shavings get low, I will empty the entire house and put down food grade DE on the floor and cover it again with shavings. This may only occur a couple of times a year.
