when will my duckling get feathers?

From what you describe I think it is starting to get tail feathers. I wish it would hurry up so it could go outside. Can it stand 70 degree night temps. yet with no feathers?

Does it have anone else to keep it company on a cold night or is it a lone duckling. It amazes me that everyone is wishing their ducks would hurry up and grow to kick them outside...me, I wish I could keep them in longer than I do.

I love having my ducklings inside! I think it makes them more sociable being around the family all day long, even in large numbers

My runner started getting adult feathers under her wings and on her tail at about 3 weeks. I'm sure they will come soon.

My family's ducks are about 2 weeks and one of them has had I think feathers growing out her side and shoulders area for several days now. At first I thought maybe she had cut herself on something or had been picking herself raw, but on closer inspection it looked more like feather shafts. Is it normal for a single 1.5 week old duck in a clutch to start getting her feathers?

I currently have a batch of ducklings hatched Nov 8 that are living outside in an unheated horse stall. They have a large heating plate, and generally ignore it but sometimes go chill under it. It's just pretty rare. It's 24 degrees Farenheit this morning, and I just went out to give them their fresh water for the day, and they were just all sleeping in a big duckball in a middle of the pen. Not a feather on them of course. I can't believe how well these things handle cold. It's my first batch.
