When will my hens eggs be fertile again after hatching chicks?

A friend of mine hatched chicks 3 weeks ago. Were taking the hen out of the chick pen and putting her back in with the rest of the girls. How long after she starts to lay again will it take to get fertile eggs? I have a cochin that is going broody in my pen and I wanna get some eggs from him and let her sit.

If she is kept with a rooster and allows him to mate with her she should be laying fertile eggs soon after she starts laying again. She may not start laying for awhile after taking her away from the chicks though. In my experience hens gets stressed when separated from their chicks and may not resume laying for awhile.
