I have 4 chicks that are 4-5 weeks old. It seems like they will just be egg laying age when winter starts in. Does this mean they won't start till spring?

Most hens usally lay when their 19 weeks old. Give or take a few weeks. They might lay a few eggs in the winter, but that's something I'm just not sure of. When the days start getting shorter, you could turn a light on in their hen house. Then they should lay through the winter. Hope this helps.

Hi. what kind of chickens do you have? Some are better winter layers than others. I have 2 golden comets that layed all winter long with no added light.
