when will my new hens settle?

Hi all,
we have 2 new gingernut rangers, been here for about a week now and they are about 23 weeks. The man we got them from said they had just started laying but we havent had an egg from either of them yet

do they just need time to settle in?

Hello! You are exactly right! Once they feel more at home and relax, they will begin laying again. It can take a while. A few weeks to a month is pretty normal.

I've never heard of a Gingernut Ranger. I'd love to see a pic!

they are a cross between a rhode island red and a light sussex

can i just ask what layed that egg in up pic? cuz that looks like a big egg lol
