I am in michigan and I got my first egg in mid January, my barn has lights though they are on for 14 hours a day to help speed up layingJust cuirous if anyone else is up North like me. When do you start getting eggs from your hens? Couple more months?

Ok I would guess march or April then.Okay thanks no extra lighting here. I have a pair of red bourbon turkeys each our a year old. The Tom is for sure struting all the time but my female doesn't have any interest yet lol. Guess will just wait and see its still really cold up here and lots and lots of snow!
Unless you fool Mother nature with artificial lighting, but in doing so, you better watch out you don't stress your hens and shorten their lifespan!Ok I would guess march or April then.
That's in the 3rd week of March, isn't it?I am north of Michigan and my birds layed the first egg last year at spring equinox.
Poor broody hen, she'll lay more, hopefully soon!im in Ohio and my girl laid 10 eggs in December and was trying to sit on a nest in the snow and i didnt have any extra lighting either. I took those eggs and dumped and she hasnt laid since.
