when will my silkie lay eggs?

i have a silkie hen who i rescued from a meat market a few months ago so i dont know how old she is.
ive had her for 3 months and when i bought her she seemed about 2 or 3 months old so she is 5 or 6 months old. i would assume that they were feeding her meat bird feed so im wondering if that would make her start laying eggs later?
and she seems a bit thin even though i have her on free choice chick feed so should i try to fatten her up, and how?

What % protein does the feed have? All of my silkies get 20%

She might never lay, like mine. Don't count on any eggs from a Silkie.

i never knew some chickens never lay eggs

so i guess she wouldn't go broody then?
she is on 18% protein purina chick feed

She might go broody (sit on other eggs) but never lay any of her own. That's how mine are.

Stop it!!! Thats awful news! I have 6 silkie chicks, who I love! Im praying the majority are hens, and I was so hoping they would lay and go broody on their own! DARN IT I had no idea they sometimes dont even lay. YIKES

I didn't know that some silkies never lay. My silkie will be a year in August, and she has been laying for about 3 months now.
