When will the noise start?

Hey all, I’m a little worried as I am pretty sure I have a cockerel as one of my crazy Polish chicks. He is almost 6 weeks and has a good Mohawk on him. My question is, when will the noise start with male polish chickens? I’m hoping to make it at least to February fair before it gets too bad but I’m a new chicken owner so unsure. Advice or opinions...

It differs for all Cockerels. My Cockerel, Wings, started at 1 or 2 months... (it sounded hilarious!)

There’s no set age. He might start tomorrow or he may well start in February. My cockerel is 11 weeks old and he crows.

But when cockerels start crowing, it's actually more of a squeak than a roar. So you may have "noise" soon, but it won't be loud, yet.

You wont make it until February unless little cutie is mute.

My polish haven't really made any noises, maybe I'm just used to my Jersey Giants and how loud they are. I think they're more tolerable than regular breeds of chickens.

What a great looking bird! All of my boys started crowing around 7wks, but none of them were Polish. The new crows can be hysterical. We had one that sounded like an old car horn for weeks (AH-EW-GAH.)

I have mixed feelings as I keep hearing how funny they sound and want to hear them but I don’t want them to start crowing too. It will be interesting either way. Lol

That is an impressive mohawk! I also don't think he'll wait until February but he may not be as loud as you are worried about. The rooster I had started about 7-8 weeks of age.

Can't you keep him? He's an awesome looking bird!
