Around 6 months is the ideal age but some just take longer. I have polish that is almost 2 and never laid at all!

My barred rock started at 21 weeks and my EE at 23 weeks. I have a buff pullet, but she's only 13 weeks old now, so no idea about her yet.

I have four Orpintons, they started laying at 22, 23, 26, and 27 weeks. My two Barred Rocks started laying at 19 and 21 weeks. I don't have any EE's (yet ) or Silkies.

My BRs started around 20 weeks, Orps at 24 weeks. But don't be in too much of a rush for them to lay. The early layers can have more issues with laying. Birds will continue to grow and mature for many more months. Let their egg machines develop more before the power laying begins. I know its hard to wait, but your birds will be more healthy because of the delay.
