when will they lay?!?!?

Lol ours is 600 but not only for chickens
Holy Cow:frow PER MONTH?!?!?! how many animals do you have???? I am also under the legal work age, so I only have work sometimes (besides our family band which helps) from neighbors, and at that I only make $5 dollars and hour. so I run out of money every month.. also, I can't sell eggs, because the deal was I worked all summer last year for my parents (not getting paid) to show that i was responsible enough for the privilege of having chickens... and then they would get free eggs and I would have to do all the work....:p but they are building me a nice coop and run, and I get free rent and meals and education LOL!:lau:gig

We have 7 horses about 50 chickens, 40 head of cattle, but the most expensive is the cows bc we show and feed 2 steers and 2 heifers, which is about 1,500 to feed them in a couple of months. My dad works as a firefighter and makes about 7,000 a week!!! But ya its a lot and we haven’t started feeding the 40 head of cattle yet!!!:idunno

I have 3 Araucana pullets hatched March 16, so almost 6 months old.
One of them laid the first egg the day before yesterday the other two haven't started yet.

It depends on the breed and we need to be patient... Sometimes it takes sooo long and the wait is frustrating.
My 3 hens started squatting just before they started laying.
The 3 pullets are not squatting (at least 2 of them, the third is soooo skittish I can't even try to get close to her, so I believe she might be the one who laid).

I posted a picture of my first blue egg here :D

Good luck and happy wait :pop

Around 6 months is the ideal age but some just take longer. I have polish that is almost 2 and never laid at all!
Oh no no no, thats not going to work.
I have four polish hens and four RIRs. When they arrived I gave them all strict guidelines for their various duties and egg laying was on top of them all.

So far the RIR have kept their end of the bargain but NOTHING from the polish girls.
Do they think they can get by on looks alone or something.
I'm going to have to go out there tomorrow and reinforce my demands from them.
