Okay I have chicken eggs in my incubator and it is day 21 for some and 20 for others. I havent heard them pip or roll yet. I candled them last week and there was life. ( I could see veins) but why is it taking so long for them to pip? Other peoples start pipping at day 20! I keep incubator at 100 F but it tends to fluctuate. Please some comfort!

Some take longer than others. Don't give up on them yet! I have some hatch early and some hatch late. It just varies. It could be that you're getting some pipped on the bottom. I had one do that and I had no idea it had even pipped until it was coming out

I was sure my eggs had died. They weren't peeping, pipping, rolling or anything....they just sat there.....like lumps. Then a couple pipped on day 21 and they didn't do anything more for 12 hours. Then once they hatched and started peeping the other eggs all pipped and hatched. So don't give up just because you don't see signs of life. They often are very quiet until the very end. They are busy learning to breath and absorbing yolk sacs....and I had constant temp spikes to 102 and even a couple times to 103 and 104....but my chicks survived it.

Also, sometimes the sneaky buggers pip on the part of the egg facing downward. Usually you will see a little piece of shell they knocked off.....it's bloody agonizingly slow going though until they start to zip....then it usually speeds up.
