My 10 week old chickens, still go to the nest to sleep every night, which is a right pain because my hens that lay in the nest box, sit on all the baby chickens poo and then their eggs are really dirty, so for the last week, when it's dark and im going to lock them all up for the night, i've been putting the babys on the perch, they stay there and i have cleans egg in the morning, is there an easy way, or with the just learn to go on the perch themselves?

I've heard that you'll just need to keep doing this for awhile till they start to get the hint. One or two may get it at first, then others till they all roost. I'm going through this with my 17 week olds

Be patient and keep at it. They'll pick it up eventually.

Roost should not be used with birds under 15-20 weeks. Roosting while the bone structure is still forming can cause crooked breast bones. Roosting poles can also cause breast blisters on young birds.

I kept mine separate till 4 months....I didn't think they could go together till the babes were almost as big as the adults....am I wrong on that one?
