When you buy hatching eggs online....

I ordered hatching eggs... 1 order was for 6+ eggs, I got ten packed great and only one candled clear. six hatched and are thriving and because of a huge issue I caused with my humidity dropping the rest did not make it out of the shells.

Seperate order same hatch I ordered 12 and got extras again, all of these eggs developed but did not hatch (Same hatch because I messed it all up they could not get out of the shells

) I learned though.
Those were packed great too.

Now I have some more in the bator all shipped and they so far all are growing that I can see through. Some are way too dark to tell but I got a good feeling about them.

Moral to the story is the eggs I have had shipped to me have been 99% developers!

from... Georgia, alabama, oklahoma.. and somewhere else. I forget right now.

I have a small broody hen, and no incubator. I would hate to buy 12+ eggs and then have to throw away the ones that don't fit under 'uncle gumby'... (our hen)

I was think about buying a dozen from Bobbi Porto in a few months. I have a couple of silkies now that I hope will be good mothers so I can just set them under her and maybe another hen when they go broody. I wish I could buy less but probably not. I don't mean to hijack the thread but do you think this will work? Its 15 bucks a chick which is a bit much for me but would I be better of just buying chicks instead of fertile eggs?

Thanks for the advice. I wanna try to get as many opinions as possible before I make any huge financial plunge.

I go for 12+. unless they're superly needed eggs like Tolbunts I'd take less.

And of course lately I took 15, so. . . Anything at or above 12 unless they're too rare or special for that great a number.
