My barred rock pullet mated with the rooster today without protest of any kind. WHEN is she going to lay???? no eggs yet I am going crazy!

Patience! It's not good for them to start TOO early! How old is she? The average time is 24 weeks to begin.

My BR is still not laying either. Only my BA. Yesterday. My BR barely has her comb and wattles. Whereas my BA is full comb and wattles.

I think we'll just have to wait.

I also have notice on this website, when I read when people say their BR start to lay, it's usaully later. Mostly around 22-26 weeks I have come to conclude. Some are earlier. But MOST seem to be later.

she has a bigger comb and wattle than anyone it has actually started to kind of flop over (kinda cute!) I would think she will be the first but we will see!!

Our pullets are 19 wks (4 RIR and 3 Br). No eggs here yet either. Which is ok, I'd rather wait and hopefully avoid any potential problems some young birds have when they start laying early.

My barred rock pullet layed her first egg a little over a week ago at 19 1/2 weeks old. Should be any day for you.
