The behavior may change. I had one that was real mean to the others (Pike...short for Piccata) pecking at them on the perch, while eating, etc. No other hens wanted to be by her. They would run from her when she came near and she almost kept them herded. I was ready to have Chicken Piccata for dinner! But, after a few weeks, the pecking order seems to have changed. She is still the boss, but #4 (Alfreda) got tired of it and stood up for herself. Now the behavior in the coop is much more civilized.
