I live just north of Richmond, and was thinking about doing 12 cornishXrocks. I've got layers already, and just got my hands on a 'needs a little work' tractor for cheap, that could easily hold the 12. My problem is, while I don't mind doing the processing, I've never done it, and have no equipment. Does anyone know of a place I could get them processed at, or someone that would be willing to do it?

Thanks!

There's supposedly a place around Bealeton or Remington. I'm in Glen Allen and have all but given up finding anyone to do processing. We'll be buying a plucker shortly.

I'm just by you in Montpelier (waving hi!) well when you get the plucker let me know and I'll pay you to process if you'd be interested

I just don't think it's a task I'm wanting to do just yet.. But taking just 12 chickens to get processed to either of those towns is a hike..especially twice!

I'm waving hi to both of you...we're in Emporia, plan on doing our first cornishXs in about 3 weeks maybe.

Any poultry clubs near you?? I am a member of Shenandoah Valley Poultry and Garden Club (headquartered in Lexington, VA) and the club shares processing equipment and hosts Homestead Poultry Butchering workshops, where we can bring poultry for processing. Don't personally know of any clubs down near Richmond, but you could Google to see.

Sunny!
