Where can I get Canada Geese?

Ive just heard such wonderful things about them, and I was wondering where I could find some canada geese eggs or goslings?

Is there a goose recommended more than a canada goose as far as protectiveness of flock and companionship? they would be a part time inside geese.

I think you have to own a permit to own Canadian geees. I know someone nere are house has some. I'm not sure on there temperment tho..

If I have to get a permit then I will, But ive got a guy comming over today to look at some ducks and we were talking about home he had a female pair of canada geese that used to come in the house and snuggle with him all the time. they were extremely protective of his ducks and once or twice gave their lives to protect his ducks from bobcats.

My friend goes down to the river by his house and finds their nests and gets their eggs...

I can never find any nests though! I mean where would they nest? In the cow pastures??

I was looking to get some next year. Stromberg's and Metzer has them. I think Stromberg's is cheaper and Metzer says their wait list is a year or 2 out. And I am talking about goslings. McMurray also sells them but they are juveniles and shipping is really expensive. I believe they all come with permits but then you need your own permit for your state if you want to sell them or their babies.

You do not need a permit to own Canadian Geese in the United States.

However, there is a law protecting Canadian Geese.

This is what the law says: "Canada Geese are protected under the Federal Migratory Bird Act of 1918 . This Act makes it illegal to harm or injure a goose and damage or move its eggs and nest, without a Federal permit. Not complying with the Federal Act can result in fines ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 and this also applies to an untrained dog’s actions."

Buy them from a farm and enjoy.

WAIT! Ok my neighbors BIL shoots any canada geese that land on his pond because his dog "doesnt like them" and barks at them.

What can I do against this - because it jst makes me SO MAD when he shoots them. Ive never seen him do it but that is why my neighbor doesnt want to buy my ducks is because she is afraid her BIL will shoot them - otherwise she would have already gotten a bunch from me.
