Where did this chick come from?

Sorry, but this gets old pretty fast. Two or three times a week or more it is discussed. There are whole threads devoted to white.

White is an OFF switch. Dominant white is leaky: one copy turns off/limits black pigment from being placed in the feathers, two copies turns off red pigment, preventing its deposition in the feathers. Recessive white is not very leaky. Two copies must be present for it to have any affect whatsoever. If two copies are present, they prevent the formation of pigment.

There are genes that do dilute the pigment: blue, lavender, champagne blonde, dilute, inhibitor of gold, etc.

Thankyou all! And thankyou Sonoran. I always hope you post cuz I know you know what your talking about!

I have all the roos together as I decide who to keep. I have 2 whites and don't want them both but can't decide who to keep. The splash is looking for a new home. I just want the cuckoo, white, and I have a young lavender. Then I will be splitting them up into breeding pens. Need a little more snow to melt first.

But it does leave alot of guessing as to who came from who. I hope to learn something from it all though. Maybe understand genetics a little better, I'm a newbie LOL

I am new too, I guess I shouldn't guess........but now I know who to ask if I have a color question.........Sonoran--that is if you don't mind! LOL

The only thing I am sure of is that it is CUTE! LOL
