Where did this chick come from?

Not a partridge. They do have stripes on their backs. It will be blue, but with the brown showing, there will also be some amount of brown/red, and it may be patterned. Try to take photos as it develops so you can predict the next time you see one like this

One or both parents provided a copy of blue (it is light enough that it could end up splash rather than blue). So daddy is splash or cuckoo, mama is splash, blue or black. If one of the parents is white, that could be where the brown colour on the head is coming from.

Ohhhh, how cute! So your's turned out to be a partridge? It seems to have a more solid reddish on the head, mine is more splotchy.

That's a blue, not partridge. Sorry.

When you breed blue parents together, you will get blue, splash and/or black chicks. You can do a search for the percentages of each color you should get of each color.

Blue or splash silkie...can't really tell from the photo.
